Actify is pleased to announce the updated importer release of Build 1112 - SolidWorks, IGES 3D/2D and VDA.

Build 1112

SolidWorks

This updated build contains:

  • Support for SolidWorks 2007 files.
  • Improved importing speed for 3D models. No improvement for 2D drawings.

IGES 3D/2D & VDA

This updated build contains:

  • Performance Improvements: This new importer has been updated to improve the speed/performance of importing and has been modified to take advantage of the improvements made to the latest SFP 8.2.
  • New Error messaging: An error message dialog has been added which pops up with a basic error message when a file fails to be imported, this dialog has an additional option to view the details of the error message, which states the exact line and location where the error(s) are encountered in the file. Advanced users could manually open the file in a text editor and fix the errors and try to reload the file.
  • Hidden entities loaded in appropriately: Entities which are hidden are now imported into the scene as hidden and show up in the assembly tree as unchecked. This solves the issues arising due to the model loaded in with additional entities which are in fact present in the model but are actually hidden.
  • Line type support: Line type support has been added in both 2D drawings and 3D models. (Line types such as Solid, Dashed, Dotted, Dash-Dot, Dash-Dot-Dot, Center Line, Phantom, and few other dash and dot combinations are supported).
  • Processing option

-       Loading option: Users can now import a model by processing groups only or layers only or both or when both are left unchecked, the IGES file is processed as a model with entities.  Default options would have process groups and layers as unchecked

-       -Hidden entities: there is a new option for users to select whether or not they want to import hidden entities. Default is unchecked.

-       -Trimming curves: the default Trimming curve option is now Auto-Detect, which would appropriately choose which trimming option is best for the geometry in the file.

  • Model duplication: When users import an IGES file as layers and groups, in some instances, it duplicated certain parts resulting in incorrect volume computations. This issue has been resolved and only one model is now loaded into the scene when the Layers and Groups options are unchecked.
  • Group and layer names if available are retained and loaded in as such. They used to always be group1, 2, layer 1, 2 etc before, now they could have names if available in the file.
  • Textual information regarding the file, which importer was used when was the file imported, the author of the file, and other information regarding the IGES file are saved as properties of the root node below the scene.
  • Other minor bug fixes.

**Note: These importers are only compatible with SpinFire Professional 8.1 and above and Actify Publisher 3.0 and later.

These updates will not go live on the website or in SpinFire Professional and Actify Publisher until next Friday, March 30th so as to provide you with some time to test them out before the customers are informed.

The release notes for these importers and the STL Export Plug-in which contains complete details are now posted on Reseller IQ and the CD image on the FTP site has been updated to contain the new importers.
