Magna/Cosma Engineering Standardizes on the Actify Product Suite

Actify Inc. announced that Cosma's International engineering group, a wholly owned group of Magna International and the world's premiere global automotive metal-forming supplier, has selected Actify as the company's corporate standard for digital design communications. The Cosma Engineering division's goal is to standardize on Actify's platform for communicating engineering information between each of their 36 plants and numerous world-class automotive customers, and for centralizing the importing of data into a single source.

Cosma International has purchased Actify Publisher, to automatically convert native CAD files to Actify's compressed .3D format, SpinFire Professional, to view, measure and markup CAD files, SpinFire for Microsoft Office, to imbed rich 2D and 3D design data within Microsoft Office documents, and SpinFire Reader, to view 2D and 3D files. By leveraging Actify's suite of products, employees, both technical and non-technical, will be able to easily view, measure, mark-up and share 2D and 3D CAD data without the need of the native CAD system.

"As a premier automotive metal-forming supplier, our success lies in our ability to deliver engineering data to our customers as efficiently and as accurately as possible," said Frank Gabbianelli, VP of Engineering at Cosma. "After extensive benchmarking, we felt that Actify would be a collaboration partner that could help us attain our customer satisfaction goals. The Actify suite of products is a best-in-class digital design, affordable communication solution, allowing us to achieve greater ROI quickly. Given that we have 36 manufacturing facilities in key automotive markets around the world and hundreds of customers that we service both engineering needs and production manufacturing requirements for, Actify will be used by a multitude of people for a multitude of design communication functions. We are confident that we have made the right choice by standardizing on Actify's solutions."

"The benefits that Cosma will realize from standardizing on Actify's suite of products will be measured in customer satisfaction and process improvements," said Randy Ochs, president and CEO of Actify Inc. "Not only will the company realize significant cost savings and productivity gains, but they will now have a streamlined method of communicating digital designs with their world-class automotive customers."

Ochs added, "For Actify, Cosma's replacement of existing expensive visualization solutions and the standardization of our design collaboration products is a significant milestone towards our goal of delivering the digital design communication choice for automotive manufacturers. This is indicative of a trend whereby companies aren't happy with the offerings of their existing PLM systems and are looking for affordable design communication alternatives such as the Actify Suite of Products
